Rehab for women provides treatment that is tailored to female guests so that they may recover from addiction to drugs or alcohol. Seaglass at Royal is our women’s-only addiction treatment program in Prescott, Arizona.
Men and women have different needs in treatment and early recovery, so we have created programs to address those specific needs. Our understanding has always been that treatment is not a one-size-fits-all experience, which has led to an individualized approach in which every guest in our care receives a personalized treatment plan.
In our gender-specific programs, men and women will find safe spaces to discuss past trauma and their experiences with substance abuse while establishing a strong network of support.
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, substance abuse affects men and women differently. For example, women are likely to use smaller amounts of drugs than men yet feel their effects more strongly. Above all, the experience of being a woman is vastly different than that of being a man— this is why we designed our women’s rehab center to provide the addiction treatment women need at Seaglass Recovery.

You’ll find that the women’s rehab center at Seaglass Recovery is different from other addiction treatment programs due to the female-centric nature of the healing practices. Women need a safe space to communicate and develop trust among other women.
To assist in the formation of these platonic relationships for women, we find it is best to reserve our Seaglass location for women only. Additionally, when discussing topics like motherhood, relationships, children, and family, gender-specific groups have a much easier time empathizing with one another. This inherent ability to naturally relate encourages vulnerability and honest communication throughout the group.
How is a Women’s-Only Rehab Program Different?
A women-only rehab center can help female guests open up about sensitive topics such as gender inequality and sexual harassment. While co-ed groups often focus on a more broad experience to avoid disagreements, our women’s rehab provides guests with a safe, supportive space for them to fully unburden themselves and find comfort in fellow women who have similar experiences and are motivated to heal and recover.
How to Treat Trauma in Women
Many women who struggle with substance abuse have experienced trauma, such as sexual assault and domestic violence. More often than not, past trauma plays a significant role in drug and alcohol abuse for individuals who are still haunted by the painful memories. In fact, some women who have undergone traumatic experiences will turn to drugs or alcohol in an attempt to self-medicate and cope with feelings of anxiety or depression. These discussions can be incredibly distressing, with or without men present— female-only groups allow women to share their experiences without fear of judgment and less of an emphasis on how others will perceive them. Treating traumas like these experiences can be challenging without the proper knowledge or education around trauma-informed therapy. Seaglass at Royal offers a variety of trauma-informed psychotherapies and techniques/therapeutic styles like Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). Other trauma-specific therapies are usually offered on an individual basis as to keep our guests feel as safe and comfortable as possible when opening up about these topics.
In addition, women who have suffered at the hands of a male partner often have a difficult time opening up in a co-ed group therapy setting. At Seaglass Recovery, our therapists and counselors understand these unique difficulties and have created an environment of trust and respect to best help our female guests heal in a space that is comfortable and supportive.

Our Addiction Treatment Programs
Medical Detox
Our medical detox program is the first step toward a life of fulfillment in recovery. Offered for 4 or 8 days, guests will meet our team of medical professionals who perform medical evaluations to determine the severity of the individual’s addiction. Following the assessments, a individual service plan (ISP) is created to meet each guest’s unique needs and goals for recovery.
Guests who require a medication-assisted detox are in detox for a full 8 days. Alternatively, guests that are not in need of a medical taper participate in a 4 day observation period as they begin group therapy. Throughout their time in detox, each guest is monitored 24/7 by our medical staff to ensure their safety and comfortability.
Residential Inpatient Program
Our residential inpatient program is a 2-week or 30 day program, depending on each guests’ needs. In residential inpatient, guests will be living in our facility— with 24/7 medical professionals, staff support, and safety monitoring. Our residential program is perfect for continuing therapeutic work and health stabilization as a step down level of care from medical detox.
Within our inpatient program, guests continue their participation in group therapy sessions while learning to deconstruct their maladaptive behaviors. As they rebuild their self-esteem, our guests learn healthy coping mechanisms that set them up for success following the completion of our residential program.
