What is Individual Therapy?

Our team of therapists work one-on-one with guests in a comfortable, judgment-free environment to cultivate trust and collaborative engagement. While with their primary therapist, guests work through difficult emotions, destructive thought patterns, low self-worth, and maladaptive coping skills.

In individual therapy, therapists address each guest’s addiction and the underlying issues that may include associated mental health disorders that may contribute to the individual’s past substance abuse. In doing so, the women in our care are safely guided through the healing process, overcoming personal obstacles and working through unresolved traumas so that they may lead happy, fulfilling lives in recovery.

Guests in our residential inpatient treatment program at Seaglass participate in weekly hour-long individual therapy sessions to review their progress in treatment and discuss personal topics at a deeper level.

Behavioral Therapy for Women In Rehab

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

The best-known form of behavioral therapy that is utilized by our therapists is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). As an evidence-based therapeutic tool, CBT focuses on the present, identifying and confronting dysfunctional thinking through problem-solving psychotherapy techniques. It is known to be highly effective in treating co-occurring mental health disorders associated with substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a specific form of behavioral therapy focused on the integration skills to assist guests with four main areas—mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Guests are guided by their primary therapist during DBT sessions, learning a wide range of coping techniques that are instrumental in not only recovery, but life as well.

Why is Individual Therapy Important?

Individual therapy helps guests to gain a better understanding of their substance use disorder. Through continued work, guests increase their motivation to continue a sober lifestyle after treatment, acquire healthy stress management skills, develop lasting relationships, and build self-esteem. Individual therapy is also an effective treatment for co-occurring disorders including depression and anxiety.

Gender-Specific Individual Therapy for Women

As women participate in individual therapy sessions, their therapist focuses on female-related topics in relation to their needs and goals for recovery. Due to the nature of these sessions, guests are provided with one-on-one time with their primary therapist to engage in in-depth discussions about their current situation as well as fears and hopes once they complete the residential level of care and re-enter society.

Individual Therapy for Women in Rehab

In order to reassure our guests of their ability to continue their sober lifestyle outside of inpatient treatment, our therapists review vital relapse prevention techniques such as emotional regulation skills, stress and anger management techniques, continued accountability measures, and integration within a strong sober support system.

Through our holistic approach to treatment, guests restore the connection to their mind, body, and spirit. Additionally, the women in our care gain the tools and skills needed to maintain long-term sobriety. Our residential inpatient program emphasizes not only the importance of overcoming substance use disorder, but also adopting a new, healthy lifestyle.

Individual Therapy at Seaglass

Upon admission to Seaglass, each guest pairs up with a licensed mental health professional who serves as their primary therapist throughout treatment. Together, the guest and their therapist will complete an extensive biopsychosocial assessment, along with a thorough mental health evaluation.

Seaglass at Royal Life Centers employs only highly trained therapists, versed in a variety of therapeutic practices and modalities to ensure effective treatment.

These in-depth examinations assist our therapists to determine the most effective approach to the individual guest’s treatment. Moreover, the responses provided during the assessments help to uncover the most appropriate means of achieving personal goals while in your individual therapy sessions. Once reviewed, each guest collaborates with their primary therapist to create their individual service plan, tailoring our treatment offerings to best fit their needs and goals in recovery.

Individual Therapy in Our Continuum of Care

Our residential inpatient program offered at Seaglass, along with the entirety of the Royal Life Centers addiction treatment network, never recycles the same treatment plan from one guest to the next. In fact, we believe each guest deserves an individualized treatment plan tailored to best meet their needs and goals for recovery. In bringing our person-centric ideals to life, each customized treatment plan is developed collaboratively between the guest and their primary therapist, ensuring that the well-being of our guests is always priority number one at Seaglass.

For this reason, the trusting relationships between each guest and their therapist begins during the first session and continues to flourish throughout treatment. The consistent, authentic connections cultivated within our women-only treatment center are the backbone of our program and make way for the growth and healing offered within individual therapy.

While in detox and residential treatment, guests will attend one-hour individual therapy sessions, every day. During outpatient treatment, individual therapy is once a week. Guests are encouraged to maximize their therapy sessions by being as open and honest as they can. Therapy is a two-way street. For therapy to be effective and lasting, both the guest and their therapist must be able to express their own views and insights. Open, honest communication is essential to individual therapy.
