What is Medical Detox?

Royal Life Centers Addiction Treatment Network offers medical detox services at Royal Life Detox located in Prescott, Arizona. We staff the finest medical professionals, therapists, case managers, and other addiction treatment specialists. Our detox centers provide guests all the resources needed to overcome substance use disorder.

We follow medication-assisted detoxification protocol that is based on a clinical examination of each guest. Medical staff then create individualized medical regimens designed to make the withdrawal process as uncomplicated and effective as possible. Guests are assigned a primary therapist who will provide psychiatric care, medication management help, and counseling.

Why is Detox Important?

Without medical supervision, it is more likely for complications from withdrawal to develop. It is essential to have a safe, structured environment with 24/7 medical care during this time. Withdrawal is very much psychological, and managing mental, as well as physical symptoms, is a big part of early recovery. Treatment and support are critical if detox is going to have lasting results.

What Happens in Medical Detox?

While in detox, our guests participate in both group and individual therapy sessions to gain support and encouragement throughout the withdrawal process. Within their treatment program, guests attend five 1-hour group therapy sessions per day alongside weekly hour-long individual sessions. There is no one “right” way to administer therapy, which is why our therapists work with guests to create unique, custom-tailored plans designed to accommodate guests’ individual needs.

Guests must attend group during detox unless deemed medically unable by an RLC staff member.

Group topics can include self-discovery, life-skills, emotion management, and relapse prevention—all foundations of newfound sobriety.

The Benefits of Therapy in Detox

During detox, guests work with our addiction therapists to create their individualized treatment plans that act as a guide for their participation in group and individual therapy sessions that integrate risk management and relapse prevention techniques. Royal Life Centers does not believe in a “one size fits all” mentality— unlike other treatment facilities, we don’t pair our guests with pre-determined treatment tracks.

In fact, we place special emphasis on creating unique plans that are tailored to individuals and their needs. Similarly, our staff carry this person-centric mindset throughout every aspect of our drug and alcohol treatment programs, therapy discussions, and addiction education courses.

With individual counseling and group support, our guests may regain confidence and self-worth. As each guest works through the underlying reasons that lead to their substance abuse, they are freed from unnecessary fears. Our staff of certified addiction counselors guide our group sessions, teaching our guests coping skills that help them understand and pursue healthy relationships, respond to triggers in a healthy way, clarify personal values, regain spirituality, achieve good physical health, and reach their true potential.

What Do I Do After Detox?

Following detox, female guests begin residential inpatient treatment at Seaglass at Royal Life Centers. Alternatively, our male guests are transitioned from Royal Life Detox to our male-only treatment center, Royal Life Centers at Chapter 5. Structured much like our medical detox program, our residential inpatient programs consists of: 24/7 medical monitoring, psychiatric care, medication management help, daily group and individual therapy, and three chef-prepared meals per day. Our inpatient guests also have access to a variety of activities and games, as well as TVs and Xbox consoles. Residential inpatient aims to support those in early recovery and prepare them to begin outpatient programming at any of our aftercare facilities.
Our Department of Children and Family Services (DCF)-licensed detox centers are closed facilities, meaning guests can recover in a safe, secure, and supervised environment without outside distractions.
