Individual Therapy

Upon admission to Seaglass Recovery, each guest is assigned a therapist that they will work with throughout their treatment with us. Together, the guest and their therapist will perform an extensive biopsychosocial assessment, along with a thorough spiritual assessment. This will help to determine the most effective approach to treatment, and also help to discover the most appropriate means of achieving personal goals. Following, each guest will develop an individual service plan with their therapist, custom designed around the needs of each person.

Our team of therapists work one-on-one with guests in a comfortable, judgement-free environment— working through difficult emotions, overcome personal obstacles, destructive feelings, low self-worth, poor coping skills, as well as other underlying issues that contribute to substance use disorder and/or mental health issues.

Here at Seaglass Recovery, we never recycle the same treatment plans over and over. In fact, we believe each guest deserves individualized, custom made treatment tracks. Each plan is developed collaboratively between therapist and guest, taking individual needs, unique circumstances, and goals into consideration. The well-being of our guests always comes first at Seaglass Recovery.

Individual therapy helps guests to acquire a better understanding of their substance use disorder. Through continued work, guests increase their motivation to continue a sober lifestyle after treatment, acquire healthy stress management methods, develop lasting relationships, and building self-esteem. Individual therapy is also an effective treatment for co-occurring disorders including depression and anxiety.

Seaglass Recovery employs only highly trained therapists, versed in a variety of therapeutic practices and modalities to ensure effective treatment.

Behavioral Therapy

One type of therapy that is commonly utilized by our therapists is Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT focuses on the present, identifying and confronting dysfunctional thinking by utilizing problem-solving psychotherapy. It is known to be highly effective in treating the underlying issues associated with substance use disorder.

Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) is a specific kind of therapy focused on four main areas—mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Guests who participate in DBT learn a wide range of coping skills and techniques that will be instrumental in only recovery, but life as well.

During residential treatment, guests will attend one-hour individual therapy sessions, every day. During outpatient treatment, individual therapy is once a week. Guests are encouraged to maximize their therapy sessions by being as open and honest as they can. Therapy is a two-way street. For therapy to be effective and lasting, both the guest and their therapist must be able to express their own views and insights. Open, honest communication is essential to individual therapy.
