Is Outpatient Rehab in Arizona Right for You?

Table of Contents

Outpatient rehab is a valuable stage of recovery that helps people prepare to re-enter their lives as sober people. With focuses on mind-body transformation, sobriety management, and future planning, individuals are ready to continue independently once graduating. During outpatient alcohol and drug rehab, they collaborate with substance abuse therapists, counselors, and case managers to achieve total restoration. Yet, some people chose to forgo this stage of treatment after completing inpatient rehab. How and why is outpatient valuable? Is transitioning into our outpatient rehab in Arizona the right move for you? You know yourself best, so let’s discuss what outpatient recovery and rehab offers so you can make an informed choice.

What Is Outpatient Rehab in Arizona?

Outpatient addiction rehab is a comprehensive treatment level for our guests who have completed the necessary work to address their substance use issues. Although it’s possible to work through our levels of care non-linearly, outpatient rehab is the final stage of recovery programming. Thus, individuals must be ready to prepare for a sober future by having completed the core healing work of unpacking their addiction. By the time they enter outpatient care, they’ve explored the roots of their addiction in therapy and counseling. They’ve learned how to manage their emotions, avoid triggers, and handle withdrawal symptoms like cravings. As such, they are ready for this stage of recovery, where they return home and attend daily in-center sessions. Outpatient drug and alcohol rehab emphasizes preparing for the future—mentally, emotionally, physically, but also concretely. During outpatient, guests meet with their case manager to work towards needs and goals, like jobs, housing, and financial literacy.

Inpatient Rehab vs Outpatient Addiction Rehab

Inpatient and outpatient rehab are different levels of care corresponding to where an individual is in their recovery. Inpatient rehab comprises the earliest stages of treatment. Within this level are medical detox and residential inpatient care. To elaborate, medical detox is the short process of removing substances from one’s body in a safe, 24/7 monitored detox facility. Then, in residential inpatient, individuals live in the center and attend daily therapy and counseling sessions to find healing in their addiction.

On the other hand, outpatient recovery is the next level of care for guests who are ready to progress toward graduation. Outpatient substance abuse rehab is divided into three possible sub-levels. Guests receive more independence in outpatient recovery, such as living at home but attending daily sessions.

What Are the Levels of Care in Outpatient Care?

Outpatient rehab is separated into three program tracks that align with the outpatient level. One of them is traditional outpatient programming. The other two are accelerated recovery tracks that have individuals attend sessions in-center while living at home. In some cases, our guests will work through all three variations of outpatient drug and alcohol rehab. Yet, other times, our guests choose to speed up the pace of their rehab by only working through one stage. Here’s what to know about each type of outpatient care.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Our partial hospitalization program (PHP) is like an in-between stage combining inpatient rehab and outpatient rehab. It is a flexible outpatient stage for individuals who are fresh to rehab. In many cases, our guests cannot spend the time living in our facility for traditional inpatient treatment. They may have responsibilities requiring them to live at home. This doesn’t disqualify them from getting help, even when they are early in the process! PHP is an accelerated-pace treatment level that walks individuals through early healing into readiness for more independence. They attend the same mixture of therapy and counseling sessions as they would in inpatient rehab to unpack their disorder. Yet, they progress through rehab quickly with a daily treatment schedule of roughly 5-6 hours per day.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Our intensive outpatient program (IOP) can be a continuing level after PHP or entered as a standalone level in place of traditional OP. As such, IOP closely aligns with outpatient care in that guests receive more independence in their recovery. Having done the inner work, they are ready to focus on building a sober future. Emphasis is placed on sobriety management and goal setting. Notably, PHP and IOP can be treated as a 12-week program, where PHP lasts eight weeks and IOP lasts four. Otherwise, the levels can be entered separately.

Traditional Outpatient Program

Our traditional outpatient program (OP) also has guests who live at home but attend sessions during the day. Further, it is a level with more flexibility and independence, as guests are ready for more responsibility in their sobriety. However, the biggest difference between OP and the accelerated program tracks is the more relaxed pace of outpatient rehab. We allow guests to take their time getting comfortable with the idea of graduating and caring for themselves outside of our support. Of course, we are always available for our alumni, but it’s important our guests find self-motivation to manage themselves. Because OP is the final stage of attending sessions in-center, it focuses on future planning and relapse prevention.

What to Expect from Outpatient Rehab in Arizona

We’ve discussed the different levels of outpatient rehab and what they offer. Now, let’s explore the specific elements of our outpatient addiction treatment in Arizona. At Seaglass Recovery, we are a women-only treatment facility. Thus, you will only be surrounded by other female peers and professionals while in recovery from substance abuse. Because we take a person-centric approach, your treatment is fully customized to you. Further, it’s important to note that we are a holistic-focused treatment center. This means our recovery approach focuses on total self-healing, from your mind to body to spirit. As such, each element of treatment aims to help you heal with a mixture of traditional and alternative therapies.

Individualized Treatment Plans

A treatment plan is a document that outlines what your time in recovery will look like. It factors in every related detail about you, from your background to your history of substance abuse to your needs and obligations at home. Further, your treatment plan outlines whether you should enter any specific program tracks while in treatment, like dual-diagnosis treatment or medication-assisted treatment (MAT). In order to create a treatment plan that is entirely customized to you, you’ll have an initial intake meeting. This is your time to collaboratively determine your service plan, including your anticipated timeline in rehab and levels of care.

Exceptional Care and Guidance

Each member of our staff at Seaglass is knowledgeable and passionate about healing substance addictions. Some of them have a personal connection with substance use disorders (SUD). Regardless, their goal is the same as yours: your ultimate healing. During inpatient and outpatient rehab, you will receive expert care and guidance to always feel safe, understood, and supported.

Evidence-Based Psychotherapy

Evidence-based psychotherapy is the traditional therapy methodology we utilize for mental and emotional healing. It plays a key role in the overall recovery process. Through behavioral therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), individuals think and speak through their addiction history. They consider their reasons for self-medicating with substances and practice replacing unhealthy habits with positive coping skills. Traditional therapy at Seaglass looks like both individual therapy and group therapy with peers. In group therapy, members are led through discussion topics relating to women’s experiences of addiction and trauma. Thus, therapy fosters trust, awareness, and inner restoration.

Holistic Treatment

Holistic therapy is another core component of healing at Seaglass. Holistic therapies, also called alternative therapies, are healing practices that engage the mind, body, and spirit. As a result, they lead guests towards total-self wellness since each area is connected when one isn’t doing well. Undeniably, people with substance use disorders witness their physical, mental, and spiritual health decline. Through our holistic therapy offerings, they find a return to themselves. Some therapies are more relaxing, others focus on physical movement, and others are more creative in nature. Regardless, we provide options that resonate with everyone.

Alumni and Aftercare Support

To help support our graduates in the transition between rehab and independence, we offer aftercare. For example, we support our alumni through Sober Living housing, peer recovery support groups, resources, and alumni events. Even after you leave treatment, you aren’t alone!

However, every woman battling any form of unwellness is handling it in the midst of everything else going on. Thus, we understand the need to provide a program that strengthens and supports women during times of trial. If you struggle with any of the following concerns, we have a place for you at our outpatient rehab centers in Arizona.

Substance Use Disorders

Substance use disorders (SUD) are substance addictions that have gotten to their most extreme point. People with an SUD cannot quit on their own because they’re dependent on a substance. Truthfully, it is possible to develop an SUD from alcohol abuse or drug abuse. While there are levels of unhealthy substance use, substance use disorder is the most dangerous stage, with a high risk of overdose. To add, it’s possible to have multiple SUDs, including concurrent alcohol and drug addiction, which only increases the risks.

Alcohol Abuse

Drinking alcohol to excess is a prevalent issue around the world, targeting people of all ages and backgrounds. Alcohol is easily accessible, even for young people, so it’s no surprise alcohol use disorder (AUD) harms millions of people. Alcohol abuse issues can escalate over time, from binge drinking to heavy drinking and then alcohol addiction.

Drug Abuse

Drug abuse is one of the highest causes of death due to drug overdose. Although many drugs are illegal, people can find a way to abuse substances. Often, this leads to prescription drug abuse, such as opioids, stimulants, and depressants. Drugs are powerful substances that often serve a medical purpose, but when used outside of how they’re intended, they’re dangerous. If you have a drug use disorder, you will need to undergo professional medical detox to achieve sobriety.

Mental Health Disorders

Mental health disorders are common issues that significantly impact one’s quality of life. While an estimated 1 in 4 people have a mental disorder, far less receive treatment. Often, mental illness is connected to substance abuse. Drinking or using drugs can be an easy escape from the pain of mental illness. Whether you battle your mental health or have co-occurring mental illness and SUD, our rehab will help you heal.

Anxiety

Anxiety disorders are mental health conditions with common symptoms of fear, dread, panic, and avoidant behaviors. These disorders have different classifications, including generalized anxiety, panic disorder, social anxiety, separation anxiety, and phobias. When symptoms are at their most extreme, anxiety hinders one’s quality of life by keeping them trapped in fear and dread.

Depression

Depression is another term for depressive disorders, which include major depression, persistent depression, atypical depression, postpartum depression, and prolonged grief disorder. All share the symptoms of sadness, hopelessness, feelings of emptiness, loss of interest in passions, and fatigue. People with depression feel the urge to isolate and burrow into their pain. Often, they turn to substances to cope. Yet, relief over depression exists through treatment.

Trauma

Trauma can take many forms and occur at any point in one’s life. Some trauma-related disorders include post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), acute stress disorder (ASD), and adjustment disorder. People who have experienced trauma may have symptoms of anxiety and depression, as well as flashbacks or dissociation. It’s important to receive help to heal your trauma so it doesn’t control your life.
